Yes. Like you said, you have notice of a court hearing.  If you do not show up for court, more than likely, the court will issue a warrant for your arrest. The last thing you need is a warrant for your arrest. 

When you get to court, you can request a court appointed attorney if you cannot afford one.  If you can, then ask the court for a new court date and some time to retain private counsel.
