What to do if I have a customer who is threatening to sue me because I installed a HVAC system in his house and now he says he has high electric bills?

His bills are fine now after we fixed the problem. And he had several problems so I told him that I would reimburse him the money he had paid me. I have paid him 4 payments of $500 and now he says that he wants it all in one sum and that I should get a loan to pay him back. I want to know if the law says that I have to pay him because of high energy bills.

The terms of your contract control what services were to be provided.  If the installatoin was not negligently conducted -, there is no viable lawsuit for damages. It would seem that high energy bill s unlikely support a claim for a breach of contract.
