Depending on the State Law in which your reside, most criminal offenses are eligible for an expungement after 5 years from the date of sentencing or a person's release from prison. There are many different guidelines which determine whether or not a particular offense can be even be expunged, such as whether or not you have more than one criminal offense on your record which may disqualify you from an expungement. My advice is to contact a criminal defense attorney in your area to determine if your circumstances qualify you for an expungement, and if so, immediately begin the the process to have your case expunged because it can take up to a few months to finalize in most cases.
