What to do if I have a 6 month contract for a marketing company to market my business for $685 a month but now need to cancel?

My finances have changed for the worse and I can no longer afford it nor do I like the way they operate. Am I still obligated to pay them the rest of the 6 months or pay their crazy $2,160 cancellation fee?

You have do pay for the balance of the term and/or  pay the cancellation fee, exactly as the contract states. Unless a contract gives you the right to cancel without penalty (either at will or on the occurance of certain circumstances, which in fact do occur), you are obligated to it for the whole term, regardless of your finances or situation. If the contract states you can cancel on the payment of a cancelation fee, that would what you have to do to cancel.
