If you have been convicted of a felony for the first time with respect to a perceived assault and battery, assuming the victim was not hurt too bad, you most likely will be fined several thousand dollars, be ordered to attend anger management courses and spend 15 days in jail as a first time offender.

If the victim was hurt severely, you could easily spend up to six months in jail.
