My car was hit right where my son was sitting.

It is very difficult to answer your question without knowing many more factors about your case, your accident and your son's injuries, if any.  An injury settlement is based of several factors, including the type of injuries suffered, the severity of the injury, the length of treatment, the medical expenses involved and pain and suffering among other things.  Without knowing more information, it is extremely difficult to give you a dollar amount and what is a reasonable settlement to expect.  I would strongly suggest you contact an attorney in your area who specializes in personal injury and obtain a consultation.  They will be able to review all of the important facts of your case and give you a more informed opinion.  The insurance company has an expert on their side who is going to look for ways to pay you as little as possible.  You should have an expert on your side too.
