What do I do if I got a ticket for using my phone while driving but I was using Google maps?

How do I fight it as I understand the law states you can use google maps, etc., you just can’t text instant message or talk on the phone.

Actually, in your state and most states, for  that matter you are not allowed to use a handheld phone while driving--regardless of the app or purpose. You also can be ticketed for driving distractedly. So if the phone were handheld, you were, for this purpose, using your phone while driving and a ticket would seem valid.
