Not enough information here but let's see if we can help.  First, and most important, answer the complaint.  No ifs, ands or buts. Next, when you left did you break your lease with or without the consent of the landlord?  If it is with the consent of the landlord then I hope you have it in writing.  If not and you just left, see if your state compels a lndlord to try and reduce their liability by re-renting an apartment.  Which means he should have evicted you long ago.  I would consider getting legal help here.  Good luck.
