If you are an independent contractor, you need to be paid only those amounts and for that work that your agreement, whether written or oral, with your customer or client calls for--as the term implies, a "contractor" works pursuant to a "contract," and his/her compensation is governed by that agreement, not by the wage or labor laws. You therefore need to reference the terms under which you provide service or do work.
