What to do about a job that was supposed to have been approved but was not?
My wife was interviewing for an internal position. HR contacted her to say that she was approved for her internal transfer. My wife did a follow-up to see what the process was. HR replied back for her to discuss with things with her current manager so that the transition can take place. She was told that,

Unless this action violated the terms of a written agreement (i.e. employment or union contract, etc.), it was legal. The fact is that a company can set the conditions of the workplace much as it sees fit (absent some form of actionable discrimination). Accordingly, your wife's internal transfer could have legally been rescinded.
