How to collect on a contract
I am a licensed contractor. I was contracted by a homeowner that has an insurance claim for a damaged roof. We have completed the job. The insurance company issued a check with the homeowner’s name, mortgage company name and my company name. However, now the homeowner is refusing to turn the check over to me. We have a contract. What do I do?

You can sue the homeowner for breach of contract / account stated. Your damages (monetary compensation you are seeking in your lawsuit) would be the amount you are owed.
After prevailing in the case, you can enforce the court judgment against the homeowner with a lien on the property, wage garnishment, etc.
