How long should it take for a trustee to pay beneficiaries?
My wife’s father passed 8 months ago. The trustee of his estate, her brother-in-law, is holding onto some money and has paid out some monies to her and her sister his wife. Can he hold on to some of the Trust money? Should he have paid it all out?

I am so sorry for your loss. Sounds as if the Trustee is favoring some over others in distribution. If he distributed to some but not others that would be against his fiduciary responsibilities. And why would he be holding on to funds or indicating you will be taking him to court? I think it may be time to consult an attorney here just for some answers. Good luck.
