It really depends on the facts.  Do you mean after arrest and indictment?  Those are speedy trial questions.  Prosecutors are limited under the criminal procedure law for the state.  In many states it is 30 days.  But do you mean before arrest?  Until the statute of limitations runs out for the crime.  If you are in either of these situations please get legal help.
