How do I find out if I’m in my father’s Will?

My father passed away at the end of august and we were always close. My stepmother started acting really weird towards me right after he passed out of no where she blurted out,

First of all, if there is no Will, as one of your father's heirs you are entitled to a portion of his estate. However, if he had a Will, then you may not be in it; a parent can disinherit a child. Also, some assets pass outside of probate so for example, 401's, some pensions, etc. That all having been said, if you were named as a beneficiary in his Will the executor should notify you of this. If not, then once it is filed with the probate court, it becomes a matter of public record which means that you (or anyone for that matter) is entitled to  copy.
