How do I find out if criminal charges were filed within 72 hours of the arrest? If charges were not filed and it’s been 72 hours would the inmate be released from jail?

The best way to determine whether or not a criminal complaint has been filed against a person is to go down to the county court house and do a search on the computer to see if a complaint has been filed.

Just because a person has been arrested and jailed where a criminal complaint has not been filed within seventy-two (72) hours of the arrest, such does not allow the incarcerated person to be released from jail. For example, a person can be arrested the afternoon before Thanksgiving and jailed. The following four days are typically holidays.
