There is no right to be paid out for unused vacation in your state, whether when your employment ends or when your company is sold--not unless you had a written contract guarantying you that pay (if you did, you can sue for "breach of contract" to enforce the terms of the contract). Vacation days can be *used* while still employed by someone, but if you don't use them, the employer does not have to pay you for them. If you company was sold, the prior owner has no obligation to pay you out for any vacation you had but had not used when the sale occured.
