How can I get a double parking ticket when I wasnt double parked

Instead of pulling in the parking spot
along the curb. I parked beside the
parking spot. How is that a double
parking ticket if I wasnt parked along
side a car?

Double parking is not only parking next to another vehicle; it is also parking in the travel lane. Based on what you write, that's what you did: whether or not there wa another car parked there, *you* parked in the travel lane, where you would park if double parking. That is double parking--you were parked in the travel lane, not a spot.
