How can I find files on an unsolved murder?

I really want to help but I need all of the details. Is there any way I can find them online?

Are you talking about a specific murder or in general?  Files of unsolved cases are generally kept in the county in which the crime was committed.  The police would have a file and if the prosecutor looked in to it they might as well.  Details are not put out on the internet for the sake of storing the cases there for the general public to see unless the police wanted information placed out there for investigative purposes.  If there are articles written about the crime then you may be able to access them onlne.
