Is there a time limit for returning an executed contract back?

I am a Sr. VP in our company. Last year they announced an employee incentive units plan for key management people, including me. I signed the contract but they never gave it back to me. The contract has some steep binding that is bothering me now. In other words, if I leave now, can I officially understand the contract null and void?

No, unfortunately--
1) There is actually no legal requirement that a party to a contract get a copy of it after it is signed.
2) If you signed it, you bound by its terms even if they never gave you a copy of the executed contract.
It's certainly reasonable to get a copy of the contract back. The law does not always enforce reasonable behavior.
