What are my chances of getting political asylum?
I came to visit the US last month on a B1 visa and am still here. Every day I hear from my friends and from the news what’s happened in the south of Ukraine. A few days ago, I read that the government has asked citizens to avoid visiting there. I also read that to file for political asylum I need to be in the US for 6 months. What should I do? Is it true about the 6 months? Can I fill out the appropriate paperwork without an attorney?

It is not enough for the situation in Ukraine to be difficult politically. In order to establish grounds for political asylum, YOU have to prove that YOU have personally experienced persecution on one of the acceptable grounds for political asylum and you have to have documentation and evidence of that persecution. If you do not, you cannot obtain political asylum.
