Had a single car accident in alabama, no insurance, damage to light pole.

Who needs to be notified and what are the legal consequences for an accident that was not yet reported. It was during a storm, no one around to help so I left the scene but have not yet notified the proper authorities. My insurance terminated just weeks before because of hard times. What can I expect to happen because I want to talke care of it. What is the best way to handle this?

The best way would be to call the local police station and tell them what happened, and that you know you are financially responsible for any damage to the light pole.  They might contact the municipality where the light pole is located, but you should, too.  Let the city know about the accident and the damage and give them your contact information.  And good for you for wanting to step up and take responsibility when other people might have just let it go.
