Do you need consent to travel with your toddler?

I have a 1 year old son. Can his father take him and on a 4 1/2 hour drive (220 miles from my home) to stay for the night without getting my consent first?

In order to give any guidance on this question one needs to know what the cstody arrangement is between you and the child's Father.  If you share joint custody and he has unrestricted visitation then he may not need your okay to travel with the baby.  Is it out of state?  That issue generally arises when there is a custody battle going on and one parent leaves the state "without the intent to return."  That is a whole different scenario.  Good luck.
