Do i have to return an engagement ring after 7 years of seperation?

I was engaged and we broke up 7 years ago. He is just now asking for the ring back. Do I still have to return it since so much time has passed?

Under Ohio law, unless there is an agreement to the contrary, the engagement ring is considered a conditional gift, given in contemplation of marriage.  It is an implied condition, meaning that if you do not get married the condition is not met and it goes back to the owner - your ex-fiance.  He is entitled to the ring or its value back.
