Do I have to name my child before leaving the hospital in the state of Georgia? I need to get a paternity test done.

Generally speaking, the answer to that question is yes, because a name must be placed on the birth certificate.  If this is the mother who is asking the question, and you are not sure of the paternity of the child's father, you may be able to put your last name on the certificate.  If the biological father later seeks to legitimize the child, the child's last name can be changed.
