Do cemeteries need to carry liability insurance or any other type in case of injury on premises?

I’m needing to find this out for a non profit, rural, private cemetery.

I don't know if it's required, but it's a very good idea.  Anyplace that is going to be visited by the public has a risk of someone getting hurt, and the owner of land usually has a duty to keep it safe for people who can be expected to be there.  In New Mexico (where I'm not licensed to practice law), some internet research suggests that local governments like towns may have their own regulations about cemeteries as well, so you should check up on that.

If you want more details about cemeteries, and premises liability generally, you should talk to a New Mexico attorney.  One place to look for a lawyer is our website, http://attorneypages.com
