Yes, you can refuse to accept an inheritance if you are named in a Will or otherwise. If you want to "disclaim" or "renounce" your gift, you'll need to contact the executor or personal representative and relay your wishes, then contact the probate attorney to have them prepare a disclaimer (or renunciation) of your inheritance. It is a relatively simple form that you will sign and date before a notary. This document is then filed with the probate court.
