Can you leave personal property and/or assets to a non-relative in a Will?

The testator has no relatives/family and would like to leave his assets to a friend. Is that possible?

Yes, absolutely; if he does not take care of this matter right away, and he dies, then the property will go to the state for sale,  with funds into the general account of the state, because there are no heirsd or other directive.
