can they b left home alone?

i have a friend whose neighbor has left to go to the movies and dinner and they left the kids home alone the oldest is 14. kids ages are 2,4,4,6,7,12 and again the oldest is 14. but should the 14 year old be left alone with all those kids? and is it legal? i am appauled.

It is not illegal to trust your 14-year-old to babysit for your younger kids. Many 14-year olds get paid babysitting jobs. (My daughter babysat at 13.)  It may not be advisable, however, depending on the maturity level of the individual teenager, and that does sound like an awful lot of kids to care for.  But really, there is nothing you can do about it.
