Can someone in charge of hiring tell you that he’s sorry but he had already promised the job to a current employee’s son?

The person in charge of hiring had not even looked at the resume of the other applicant when this statement was made to see who was more qualified for the job.

Unless you are being discriminated upon (and by discriminated I mean the legal basis for the discrimination: race, sexual orientation, etc.), then you can not be hired for any reason.  It stinks that you are not being given what you believe is a fair shot at the job.  Maybe it is time to re think this company.  Good luck.
