Can my life insurance proceeds be taken by a nursing home if I die there?

have term life insurance. If I should need to go to a nursing home and died there can the home take the proceeds from my insurance away from my wife who is the designated beneficiary?

You should designate a beneficiary or beneficiaries in the life insurance. Otherwise, it would pass by intestate distribution to your wife or your heir. There is no possibility the nursing home can get any unless you designate it as the beneficiary to your life insurance.
