Can my employer suspend me?
Last week there was an incident. I was letting a guy live with me who I knew was on parole in another state. He ended up assaulting someone; I did not know he was a violent criminal. I have no charges against me. However, my job told me today that I’m suspended pending further action. Are they legally allowed to remove me from my job because the people there have slandered my name and made up lies about the situation? Is my suspension (or possibly even termination) legal?

Unless you have an employment contract or union agreement, then you are an "at will" worker. This means that you can be fired for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice. The fact is that an employer can set the conditions of the workplace much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimination).
