Can my father’s wife charge my siblings and I for his funeral without our consent?

I recieved a letter from my fathers wife pertaining to my portion of the sale of my fathers 50% interest in their condo. In the letter myself and my siblings were charged funeral and closing costs which was deducted from the our portion of the condo. Can we be charged for these costs without our consent? We didn’t even have a say in the funeral arrangements.

I am so sorry for your loss and for the situation.  The funeral expenses are part of the estate expenses so technically they "come off the top" when settling the estate.  It is hard to understand exactly what happened here with out taking a look at the whole picture.  Please seek help in your area.  Good luck.
