Can my employer take me off the schedule and tell me not toreturnbecauseI am pregnant and got a doctor’s note ordering me to be put on light duty?

My employer called me and told me I don’t need to come in to work because of some possible issues with me being on light duty at work. Is this legal? Can they just boot me off the schedule?

It might be pregnancy discrimination if you are a covered employee. You should consult with an experienced employment lawyer to determine your rights. You have a limited amount of time to file a charge with the EEOC. Start with reading more at the EEOC website (www.EEOC.gov) Also, read your state's department of labor website. Your state might provide you with additional protection.
