Can my employer force me to use my PTO?
I work for a doctors office. We have 2 satellites. I am being required to travel an hour
away to work from the main office on the day after thanksgiving. If the office closes early because of lack of business I am also being required to use PTO hours. Can my employer do this?

Unless there exits an employment contract or union agreement to the contrary, you are an "at will" worker, which means that your cemployer can set the conditions of work much as it sees fit. This includes mandating when you must use your PTO. The fact is that paid time off is not legally required to be provided; it is a discretionary benefit. Accordingly, an employer has a great deal of say over when and how it is to be used.
