If I quit, can my boss hold my paycheck if I send someone else to pick it up?

If I send someone to get it, can she say no and mail it or would she have to give it to them?

The law regarding the payment of final paychecks differs from state-to-state. Typically, however, employers can require a departing employee to meet with them. In other words, they can mandate a "departure meeting". For example, there may also be documents that need to be signed before a final paycheck can be released.

If they are willing to mail it to you, you may find that an acceptable alternative. If not, and you want someone to pick it up for you, then you should contact your former employer and ask if you can send someone in your place to pick up your check for you (and that you will provide written permission for this). However, the employer has a right to refuse such a request, in which case you are back to either picking it up in person or having it mailed to you.
