You might only have a viable lawsuit against them if the fact they prescribed the oxy's for your condition, or the amount or duration they prescribed, was more than the average reasonable physician, applying then contemporary medical standards, would have done. If the prescription was within accepted guidelines, then it is not the physicians' fault if you became addicted they are only at fault if what they did was not medically accptable e.g. was medical negligent or reckless. Doctors are not liable simply because there was an unfortunate outcome for the patient the doctor must have done something wrong to be liable.
