found out i had been let go. But i
have been trying to get ahold of
my boss for two months and was

Yes, you can get the benefits. You only get them from the time you file forward; fortunately, though, you have not "lost" any potential benefits: you are still eligible for the same amount of unemployment (e.g. same duration), it's just that it will start later. You should apply this coming week.
