When can you file for workers comp?

I was working at my desk and I experienced sharp shooting pain down my back. I tried calling my boss several times with no answer and finally after a text message I told her I was going to the ER. I was alone in the office and didn’t know what to do. The ran tests and just said it was back injury/muscle strain.I have never had back pain prior to this. I work at a desk typing for the majority of the day, but about 2 hours of the day I pack orders and ship orders for our online business. Would I be responsible for my medical bills or the company? Do you get paid for time being in the hospital?

Given the fact that you first experienced the injury that you are writing about while at work you presumably have a work related injury subject to a worker's compensation claim. Confirmation about the injury would come from your treating physician. I suggest that you consult with a worker's compensation attorney to file a claim with respect to the injury that you received.
