Can I draw unemployement?

IMy classified contract wasn’t renewed for the upcoming school year, can I draw unemployment? I wasn’t given a reason why it wasn’t renewed. I usually don’t work during the summer so can I draw unemployment now?

I am not sure if you can collect unemployment. What kind of contract? Are you a teacher? A non-teacher? A board member? A secretary? Are all of these types under one contract? Does the contract itself discuss unemployment?

With unemployment, the longer you wait, the less you get in terms of benefits.  So, it is to your advantage to apply and then let the process help you in determining if you qualify.  http://www.tennesseeanytime.org/labor/
