If you do not have an attorney, then you can contact the judge, but such contacts should be either cc'd (if writing, email, text message, etc.) to your adversary (e.g. your spouse or his/her lawyer), or if it's a phone call, expect that if it's not a simple procedural inquiry (e.g. checking on the date of a hearing or if the judge receiving something you sent) that you'll have to be conferenced in with the other party (spouse or his/her lawyer). Judges may not communicate unilaterally with one party except as to routine procedural matters.

If you do have an attorney, contacts should be made by/through your lawyer.
