Actually you can. Unless your termination violates the terms of an employment contract, union agreement, company policy, etc. Additionally, your termiation cannot be based on some form of actionable discrimination.
The fact is that most employment relationships are "at will". This means that an employer can set the terms of employment much as it sees fit. This includes who to fire and when. In other words, an employee can be fired for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice.
