Can I be fired as an independent contractor at an auto teaching shop for borrowing a tool from a student?
I borrowed a tool from a student at the shop and he said that I “stole” it. The boss is saying it can be considered theft. What should I do?

If you have a written contract, you can only be terminated in accordance with its terms. However, if you did not have a written contract, only an oral or verbal one pursuant to which you were working, then there was no enforceable duration to your employment and you could be terminated (i.e. they could decide to stop employing you) at any time, for any reason; in that event, what you describe would be legal.
