Unfortunately, this is legal. The fact is that most employment is "at will" which means that a company/business can set the conditions of the workplace much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimination). Basically the, un;ess this action violated the terms of any applicable union agreement or employment contract that you had, no law has been broken.
