Can an executor of a Will appoint a new executor?

My brother is executor of my mother’s Will. He is the only executor. Can he name his executor to my mot.her’s Will in his Will or do we have to have her Will probated again after he passes

If the will allows for the appointment of a new executor, then he can name a successor executor... or ask the court to approve a new executor.  The new executor only picks up where the last executor left off.  The will does not need to be probated a second time.
