Can an employer make ait company meeting outside of normal business hours mandatory?

My company holds quarterly mandatory
safety neetings at 6 am – can they do
this? What if they made it for 8 pm?
Can they legally make a company meeting
mandatory at any time they choose?

Absent an employment contract or union agreement to the contrary, a company can set a mandatory meeting outside of normal business hours. The fact is that most work relationships are "at will". This means that an employer can set the conditions of work much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimination). That having been said, if an employee is "non-exempt" (typciall one who gets paid an hourly rate), then they must be paid for the time that they spend at such a meeting.
