Can an employer keep my earned wages?

I was mailed some paychecks for wages earned after quitting my job and I never cashed them because I misplaced them. About 6 years went by and

I took them in to get cashed and my bank accepted them because they did not have any kind of void after date. The checks were returned I was charged fees. I contacted them to let them know I was unable to cash the checks but they told me they can’t help me.

Unfortunately, you waited too long: in your state, the statute of limitations on a wage claim is only two (2) years. That means that after that, it would be purely voluntary on the part of the employer to pay you--if they choose not to, there is no way to legally force them to pay, since it too late to enforce the wage obligation.
