Can a single father get full custody?

Just to give a little more info. My girlfriend already has a 6 year old (from a previous marriage)living with her parents along with my newborn child. I feel the living environment is unsafe but can that hold up in court? Does that matter? What does matter?

Living condiitons alone do not determine which parent receives more custodial time with a minor. Rather the conduct and responsibilty of a given parent determines such. Whether you have a chance to obtain full physical custody of your child is something that you need to discuss with a family law attorney as well as the costs of such a petition and chances of success.
