Can a realtor ask me how much money I make while being shown the house?

I contacted the listing agent on a house I was very interested in. While being shown the house, I was talking out loud about tearing down part of a wall to put in a safe for my gun collection. The agent made a comment somewhere along the lines of me being weird for having a gun collection. Brushing that off, we kept looking at the house, and he was asking me (and writing down my answers) what I do, what my company is, who our business clients are, and ultimately, he asked me how much money I make. I hesitated and gave a range but can’t help but feel discriminated against. Can he ask this?

He can, but you need not answer.  In his mind I think he thought that he was doing his job for the seller but really he was unprofessional and quite rude.  As for being discriminated upon, that is really another story and it does not seem that the questions caused you an harm or retribution or damages.  Good luck.
