Can a office building owner in Charlotte NC prohibit smoking on their entire property, even if it is outside and well away from any entrance?
I rent an office space in Charlotte NC and the building owner has recently issued rules about smoking on their property, even outside the building well away from entrances and windows. What are the limitations on smoking bans, if any.

Absent illegal acts or violations of the local health and safety codes, on private property the owner can stipulate whatever rules they want. This includes all ofproperty, inside and out. Unless there is a specific lease provision in your lease, allowing you to smoke on/or around the premises, you're out of luck.
The only thing I can tell you is to go off-site when you need take a puff.
