Can a landlord do an inspection after a new tenant lease has begun?

Can a landlord do an inspection after a new tenant lease has begun?

The landlord lives out of state and does not have a property manager. She told me her husband would be coming mid-month to do an inspection and has not done it yet. I requested a walk-through before my lease was up but did not have one. I’m concerned she will blame me for damages from the new tenants moving in. My lease was finished on the 31st and the new tenant lease started on the 15th. I am not sure if the new tenant has moved in yet. Can she withhold security deposit funds for damages fou d after a new lease has started?

Well she can try but you have a defense in the fact that she did not do the walkthrough prior to a new tenant moving in and in complaic e with your state law, which you need to familiarize yourself with at this point.  Make sure that you have complied with providing a new address, etc., and that you keep a close watch on time limits. Collect any evidence as well such as pics, etc.  Good luck.
